Hi Everyone, this in our first season in the top division of junior
football in South Yorkshire, and at the moment of going to press,
sit 4th in the table, with a win in our game in hand, we could be
2nd, can you believe it !
The lads have worked very hard in the summer on fitness and its
paying off, the top teams in this division are all very fit and
very skilful, as well as being a bit on the rough side, which we
have had to learn very quickly to adapt to.
Throughout the season we have lost a couple of players that
unfortunately couldn’t cope with the roughness and pace of this
division, but me and Nick wished them all the best in the season
with their new teams that they got in to, they look good players
and back in confidence in a few divisions lower where, with no
disrespect to the teams there, it is a slower game and less physical.
We have also added 3 new players to the squad and they have slotted
into the way we do things here very quickly, they have the power and
pace as well as brains to play in this division and beyond if that’s
what they want to do. We also welcomed back a former player in Kyle
that’s matured into a very nice young man, he left a bit of a mardy
lad he won’t me saying but having that year away at another side, made
him grow up and we thank Mick at Bramley Sunnyside for the hard work
he did with him.
At the moment we have played 13 games, won 10 & lost 3. In hindsight
we believe that we should not have lost the 3 games but football
is “a funny old game”. And in losing the 3 to the sides that sit
1st, 2nd & 3rd at moment tells us that we are doing something right
and are going in the right direction.
At this moment me and Nick wish to thank the lads for their hard
work so far, but there are still 9 games left and we want 100% for
them so we can reach our potential in this squad and maybe, just
maybe try and win this division, with a bit of luck, we believe that
we can do it.
